I just booked my plane tickets for a trip to far away Idaho. Okay, its not as far away as Georgia, which I plan to fish in the near future by the way, but it still is a good deal farther than driving to central Washington where the Carp Lodge is.
John Montana and I are going to connect with Chris Cutler to fish the Blackfoot Reservoir. For some time we have been talking about making this trip to try and catch some of the big fat Mirror Carp that the Blackfoot holds. Well its gonna happen and I'm pretty damn excited! (I wouldn't exactly say I'm slobbering on the keyboard because even in my advanced age I'm not that far gone. But I am kind of drooling a little.)

Got backing?
There are so many things I love about Carp fishing. Picking just one thing, it would definitely be the take; in all of life the take is The Premier Moment. The take, the take, the take; dear God I love the take!
Still, I'm not some mono-dimensional, narrow minded, singularly gratified kind of guy. I dig other stuff besides the take. And I don't just mean stuff like bacon, chocolate, and sex. I definitely love all that stuff. A lot. I'm 61 years old so you are probably thinking I've gotten too old for some of that stuff. Surprise surprise, ha, ha, not true, contrary to what you might think I still like bacon. But I like other things too. Something else I just really like about Carp fishing is seeing my backing peeling off the reel. Oh yeah baby, I like that a lot.
I got some great video of backing peeling off the reel these last couple years.
It looks like "Got backing?" T-shirts are soon to be produced. I visited with a T-shirt company today about some possibilities. The one given is that I want the words, "Got backing?" on the shirt.
I have three pictures that I talked to them about. They can heat press them on the front of a white T-shirt. My first thought was to put two pictures on the shirt--the picture of the Carp straight on combined with the picture of the reel zinging out line. Then I thought of just the fish on the shore with the reel or just the fish on the shore by itself. And then I thought of just the picture of those pretty Carp lips dripping slime.
Selling these shirts will be for fun not as an effort to make a bunch of profit. If by chance I make a little money I will donate it to something "fishy" and make a post about it.
1. The lips and the reel?
2. The fish on the shore with the reel?
3. Just the fish on the shore?
4. Just them purdy lips drippin' some exquisite Carpy slime?
I'm looking for some feedback please...What do you think?...Got backing? Thanks for your help.

Crayfish from Missouri
In a recent post of mine, The Chocolate Cherry and Small Boobs, a few of the comments were from Chris at Missouriflies.com. He has had much the same experience as me in that he has found simple flies to work the best for Carp. He suggested that I try some Crayfish patterns tied with fox for the tail. Through the years I have tied with fox tail, squirrel tail, and calf tail but the question is, "When". Well I still tie with calf tail but it has been decades since I used any fox tail or squirrel tail.
Chris and I exchanged some emails after the blog comment exchange. He sent me some of his flies to try; wow that was darn nice of him! They are great looking Carp patterns and now I'm even more anxious for spring to get here so I can try his flies. I'm looking forward to making a post a picture of a major phattie with one of these flies stuck in his "purdy Carp lips".
Here are some pictures of the flies he sent.
Thanks Chris!
